'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Furious Deeney says what everyones thinking

It had to be said and Troy Deeney said. Possibly one of the most fiery interviews ever seen by a Saddler in the local news!

Deeney, who was speaking to the Express and Star, blasted his fellow teammates, calling them pathetic.

He said: 'You should be playing for your shirts week in, week out from August but obviously people have got into a comfort zone and, as for contracts, some will be very lucky.

"If you watched that then you will see who`s doing what and who came in and wringed their shirt out afterwards because of the sweat, there weren`t many.

"I`ve left my son to come and work to earn money. I can`t do my job if people aren`t playing me in. If I`m not doing my job properly then I`ll end up on the football scrapheap.

"It has to be said. It should have been said after Southampton but, as always, we play crap one week and then do well the next week. The cracks get papered over and nobody says anything."

It does raise questions over the way the mangement run the team - do they not point out the major problems after a defeat? Discuss in the forum Click Here
