Smith may leave Saddlers

Talented young defender Manny Smith could leave the Saddlers in the summer.

The news comes after Smith's contract talks stalled despite six weeks of discussions with between the club and his representative.

Albion, Forest and Norwich are the main clubs interested in Smith if he becomes available in the summer.

Hutch has gone on record as saying that he wanted to keep Manny at the club. However, as soon as an agent is in the picture, bigger clubs with signing-on fees become a more attractive opposition.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Are the Saddlers doing enough to keep Smith at the club? Comment on a forum Click Here

Wont be a free transfer because of his age, it will be fixed by a tribunial most likely with add on's. We have a track record for agreeing a new contract but having an understanding that if a bid of x amount comes in we will let the parties talk, see this been no different.
Big No 9
That is true, so we would get some compensation for him. However, he will be a big miss and with the budget being smaller due to recessions and lack of Xmas games, it may be difficult to meet his demands. Maybe the money received from him leaving could boost our wage budget to attract the likes of Lee Hendrie or better League One players to push us into the top six next season.
