It had to happen really. Yeovil came and left with three points thanks to the kindness of Clayton Ince, who has been somewhat error-prone in the last three games.
Calamities aside, it was a decent little run after beating high-flying Leeds at Elland Road and then a tricky 2-1 win over a plucky Brentford side.
However, last night was a chance to reflect on the reality of Walsall Football Club...we are not ready for the top six.
Our place this season will be an average yet comfortable place in mid-table, especially when we give away points as easily as that.
In the news today, we have taken on the 22-year-old American defender Jonathan Borrajo on trial from Real Maryland Monarchs with a view to a possible loan move.
Apparently, Borrajo had an excellent season in the US leagues and was recommended to us by Mr Taylor. He can play at right back or in midfield, something which we find a must to play for Walsall.
Only time will tell if Borrajo can provide us with some much needed toughness in the middle to allow Mattis and Richards to plough forward. Although, there have been several players on trial over the past few years and most of them tend to be pure tripe, so I don't hold much hope if I'm honest!
Oh well, Southampton away next, a game which will require the solidness and heroics of Elland Road all over again. With Mattis out and Steve Jones yet to return to full fitness, our chances look slim, but you never know in football - anything can happen!
