'If It's Football, It's Vital'

BESCOT BANTER: It's time to shine

Last time, I vented my frustration at how the club is being run, but this time around I would like to comment on the football.

Our fantastic smash 'n' grab win at Leeds has demonstrated that we can mix it with the big boys.

I was particularly impressed when we signed Julian Gray, even though other fans see it as a sign that the 30-year-old former Blues winger is now past it. Personally, I think this is far from reality and Gray will have a lot to offer in League One.

On the down side, our 1-0 defeat to Oldham over last weekend has shown our problem - we can defend until we are blue in the face, but if we cannot get a single shot on target, conceeding a goal seems to become likely.

However, what seemed to go wrong at Oldham has improved after Hutch called for training sessions so that Walsall players could 'pass to someone in a red shirt.'

All in all a mixed week if you're a Saddler, but the Leeds win will keep the smiles on people.
