Striker hunt continues

The hunt for a new striker or two goes on, rumours are two a penny at the moment. Yesterday Colchester released four players one of whom was Tony Thorpe, a player the rumour mill has linked with a move to the saddlers. Read the story click here

Another striker with a proven record is Alun Armstrong who first came to the fore with David Jones at Stockport, he was signed by Doncaster Rovers earlier in the year but has now become surplus to requirements at the Earth Stadium.

Of course the other name that keeps surfacing is Andy Morrell released from Coventry, although he is bound to attract League one interest our location is a factor in our favour.

Our attempts to poach talent from Chester has also failed. Last season Merson stated his interest in both Ryan Lowe and Ben Davies, when approached by there respective agents. Ryan of course secured a move to crewe whilst Ben Davies has been linked with a move to an un named league one club.

Talking of Crewe, movement in there striker department could be happening. With Jones already going to Burnley, Dario is stepping up his hunt to get Gareth Taylor on board. Gareth scored 4 goals for Crewe last season whilst on loan. This could mean moves for ex Shrews hit man Luke Rodgers or more likely ex Wrexham hot shot Ugarte, who rumours have is posed for show down talks. A possible move back to Wrexham!!

Of course Nottingham Forest have strikers to burn, league ones answer to Sheff Utd, whilst I can't imagine the out of favour Scott Dobbie or David Johnson comming to Bescot, there moves to other clubs may release strikers of more interest to us.

It will be interesting to see how far a field the hunt goes since Richard Money has spent time in Europe and Australia and has numerous contacts, work permit allowing we could all be singing a foreign tune come August.
