'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Steve Claridge Leaves

Despite his age (40) and his poor goal return for us in our relegation run in, things have not been all bad. On one can say he didn't give his all for the cause. Also he held the ball up well and help bring other people into play.

Some people are suprised by this move, but in truth the budget has now got to represent league two football, and we have a need for a proven goalscorer. Despite the fact his experience has been a bonus to the likes of Andrew Barrowman and James Constable, the sums just didn't add up.

What is unclear however is the fact that he is unwanted next season means that he will take no part in saturdays game, giving Richard Money chance to look at Barrowman and Constable in live action, or whether he will be afforded the opportunity to have one last farewell.

He's a naturally fit guy and has always surprised people wherever he's been at his level of natural fitness. He's a smashing bloke and just wants to play football. He'll go on playing till he's 50 if he can.
