BESCOT BEAT: Cup starts this weekend

BESCOT BEAT: Cup starts this weekend

After a fantastic 3-2 comeback win at Wycombe, the Saddlers face a tricky trip to local non-league side Stourbridge in the first round of the FA Cup.

Darren Wrack's comments in the Express and Star show how serious defeat would be on Saturday if we were to repeat the 2-1 defeat to Slough four years ago.

Wrack stated how the Saddlers needed to keep their focus on the game and beating what's in front of them....easier said than done!

I'm sure that even Merse made that point in the dressing room all those years ago, but it didn't stop an embarrassing defeat.

With both Steve Jones and Alex Nicholls impressing on Saturday, a recall would not go a miss. They won the game for us, with their chasing and work ethic, as well as the quality finishing, which clinched an important win and much needed confidence boost.

However, for me Stourbridge, despite a huge gulf in ability, are the favourties as the home side and the team that is hoping to cause an upset.

All we need to do is take the second-half performance and spirirt into this game and we will succeed.
