Jorges Rumour Mill-Tranmere link

So unofficial sites have started a rumour regarding Anthony Gerrard returning to Merseyside in the summer to link up with Tranmere Rovers.

Of course one of the driving forces behind the rumour is the family link to the area, and the fact that Tranmere were after his signiture at the time he decided to join Walsall. One of the major factors behind his move to Bescot was the charisma for a certain Paul Merson. Now he has gone the rumour Mill has staed he if far from happy with the current regime and Walsall would be willing to cash in by demanding a fee for the under contract centre half.

The rumour has been fueled by the fact that one time target Chris Slater who was high on Rovers wanted list for the summer may now choose Blackpool after accepting an offer to join the seasiders on pre season training.

So what are the facts, well I think most of this is rumour and speculation. Whilst every player at Bescot has a price and we have a number of centre halves at the club. Anthony is a fans favorite despite his young years leading to numerous errors during the season. His 100% commitment means up roar would follow if he was allowed to go. The timing is also strange since Tranmere have slipped into the relegation fight, but despite having on paper the easiest of run ins nothing would be finalised by under pressure Brian Little until saftey is assured.

All may depend upon our new manager but I would expect further stories like this to come out of the wood woork during the summer.

One such is the fact some sources have said Roberto Martinez from Swansea will return to Bescot if Colin Lee returns as manager. He is out of contract at Swansea in the summer.

I hope we can keep him and that he are willing to saty as I see him as the player we can build the future squad around.. a future Walsall skipper in my eyes..
