Bescot Beat: Get Byfield on a contract!!

There is one main priority for Walsall...get Darren Byfield on a longer contract!

The guy is on form and showing a great deal of potential when it comes to a strike partnership with Troy Deeney.

Six goals in six games - say no more say no more nudge nudge!

It's ironic considering we were struggling to see where the goals were coming from at the start of the season, but now it's a case of how to defend and keep a lead.

Saturday's draw with Carlisle illustrates this in terms of the nearly but not quite, as a 2-1 lead going into the 90th minute became 2-2 draw within a second. Gutted!

Hopefully, Clayton McDonald will extend his loan deal from Man City, as he has shown the kind of qualities we need to have a successful season - maybe similar to the impact Anthony Gerrard made when he joined on-loan fromm Everton.

Next up is a trip to Buckinghamshire to face Paul Ince's MK Dons, a game that will show us whether we can progress to the next level - a push for the Playoffs.

Six points behind fifth place Dons, the Saddlers will want to pick up three points, which would be quite the tonic.
