Kinsella Contract talks

Mark Kinsella has gone public to distance himself with the rumours that he might be interested in taking up the managers role full time.

However he has stated that he is considering a new contract which is on the table. The role offered is that of player coach with responsibility for the reserve team. He would take charge of the reserve team on match days, very much the same as he did this season. This would allow Mick Halsall to concentrate on youth team development, the area in which he desires to work.

The role is as player coach so it is unclear if his wages come out of the playing budget or the management staff budget or a bit of both. The playing question is a strange one since his appearances for the first team have been limited. His last first team start been in December, whilst making nine reserve team starts. Yet he still feels he can contribute to the first team midfield, stating its a division where 'you have to stand up and be counted.'

His possible involvement in coaching the first team is unclear. Whilst taken on as reserve team duties, as the club is organised the roles could overlap and this may prove problematic. What happens if the new man whats his own staff and to do it his own way, we could have more conflict and division and we have all where that gets you this season.
