Saddlers reject bid for Gerrard

Saddlers reject bid for Gerrard

Walsall have rejected a bid from Scunthorpe for Anthony Gerrard.

The Championship side put in a written bid of £200,000 for our star center-back, who handed in a transfer request last season.

A statement on the official website read: 'Walsall Football Club can today confirm that a £200,000 written offer from Scunthorpe United for Anthony Gerrard has been rejected as it does not meet our valuation of a player who is attracting plenty of interest from elsewhere.'

The statement seems to be a tongue-in-cheek response to a bid from the newly-promoted side.

Specualtion will not grow as to whom the other interested parties are, with clubs like Southampton rumoured to have registered an interest in the past.

If Gerrard is going, it would mean that Hutch only has a squad of 20 players left.
