Leon Constantine One To Watch

When Vale signed Leon nobody blinked an eyelid but the goals have proved people wrong

Height 6.02
Weight 11.10
Date of birth 24-02-1978
Place of birth Hackney
Position Forward
Nationality England

I for one didn't think the signing of Leon Constantine from Torquay would provide any cause for optimum in the potteries, and a few Torquay fans I know certainly didn't expect anything from the departing striker. However I can't remember who said it but someone once said he would rather have a lucky striker than a good one. Well looking at some of the strikes that have hit the net, Leon certainly has had his slice of luck this season. It must be remembered though that another saying is that you make your own luck and with his powerful running and height that Leon works hard to get into positions to finish of what has been created.

A goal on his debut for Port Vale in the FA Cup against Wrexham set the ball rolling so to speak. Since then the goals have flowed on a fairly regular if intermittent basis with two goals against MK Dons in last week taking his tally to 12 for the season.

His career has been full of disappointments where his promise has not really been fulfilled. and resulted in him been released on free transfers until a loan spell at Torquay produced three league goals in four games, this tipped the scales as Torquay opened the cheque book to attempt to stave off relegation with a75k investment. In the end the gamble failed as only 7 goals in the next 30 league games saw to plummet down the leagues. In stepped Port Vale and the hope he can recapture the form that produced 21 goals in 40 appearances for Southend in the 2003/2004 season.

Not sure he looks like the answer, and definitely a gamble.
