O'Connor looking forward to tough first game

O'Connor looking forward to tough first game

As the fixtures were revealed yesterday, it as discovered that the Super Saddlers will face a tough trip to Brighton on August 8th.

There could only be one man at Walsall who loves a challenge and will face up to the pressure - Martin O'Connor.

Hutch's number two is relishing the test ahead, which will be his and CHs first full season in charge since there appointment at the start of 2009.

He told the Birmingham Mail: "This will be Chris and mine`s first full season at the club and it is one we`re both really looking forward to.

'Now the fixtures are out, it gives you a date to work towards. We have the rest of the summer to shape the squad and get them ready to hit the ground running on Saturday, August 8.

"Every team would rather start at home because it gives your fans the first chance to see the new squad in action.

"That said though, Brighton is a decent fixture and, like so many in League One, is one that we will need to be at our best to get something out of."
