Keates gets backing as skipper

In this weeks poll Dean Keates polled 43% of the votes as we asked who you would like to see wearing the armband for the run in.

The desire for a combative leader was confirmed with the stopper Ian Roper in second place with 21%, this is despite his reputation as been a bit quiet on the pitch. The more vocal and with his organisation skills Simon Osborn came in at third with 13% of the vote. Despite one unsuccesful outing as Skipper Paul Devlin polled 8% of the votes and Paul Mersons choice Chris Westwood 11% of votes, youngster Daniel Fox polled 4% and like his team mate Anthony Gerrard is possible a canidate for captain in the future.

In the end KB will make the final choice but we will support whoever wears the shirt with pride and passion. Dean Keates a Walsall lad and a player that never backs out or hids from the challenges in front of him is our choice.

A very good choice Jorge. Theres no one better for getting a team going and picking the players up, than a local lad as skipper. You only have to look at what Gary o'neil has done for pompey. Not only this year, but throughout his whole career. He never stops and will run through a brick wall with the shirt on.
