In a game effected by the poor conditions, heavy rain fall had made a pitch inspection necessary. In fact Beira-mar officals feel that if it wasn't for the presence of national TV cameras the game would have been called off. The conditions were also felt to favour Desportivo das Aves as they were viewed as the more physical of the two teams.

The first goal of the game came in the 11th minute, as Beira-Mar took the lead through Brazilian Roma, who had a simple tap in following good work by Diakite. From here on Beira-mar controlled the game knocking the ball around well and were in control of the top of the league clash.

Then against the run of play Aves equalised
through Filipe Anunciação. But the real turning point was the dismissal of Jorge Silva in the 64 minute for a second yellow, having been previously booked in the 31st minute. It is at this point Beira-mar went more defensive and started to sit back. To help this Jorge Leito was taken off. The game then had a bit of an undercurrent which resulted in a altercation between ex Newcastle goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek and the Aves player William, although Pavel protested he did nothing, but a bit of time wasting I expect.

The game leaves Beira-mar at the top of the league.
