Striker search

Whilst our striker search seems to be hitting yet another cul de sac, we are not the only ones after a source of goals. Tuesday's opponents also hope to bring in a striker next week.

Whilst KB watched another couple of strikers in action this week the outcome was the same. One he has decided not to pursue due to poor performance whilst the other limped out injured. Whilst we are after a certain type of striker, we should remember others are in the same boat. Yeovil visit on Bescot on tuesday dropping like a stone. Yesterday they were linked with Newcastle's Micheal Chopra and promotion play off chasing Oldham were linked with Dwight Yorke who has been mention on here and other sites. So we face competition as well as the difficultly in getting the right man.

Yeovil's situation is made worse by Phil Jeavons lack of goals and following the decision made and subsequent action taken to release Pablo Bastianini from his Huish Park contract this week Steve Thompson has stepped up his search for a new striker who can help spearhead the club's quest for League One survival between now and the end of the season. As a result he has enquired about the availability of over 20 suitable candidates from various clubs with no success.

One of those approached clubs was North East giants Newcastle United where Thommo was attempting to temp them into letting us borrow the services of the highly promising and well thought of Michael Chopra. Unfortunately Magpie's manager Glenn Roeder turned him
down flat saying that Michael is very much part of his plans at St James Park.

So we are not alone in our hunt, but we do have Fitzgerald, Constable, Barrowman, Timms and wingers James and Devlin who can all play up front. So as we have said so many times before it is time for one of these to pick up the batton.
