Walsall trialist given body blow

Walsall trialist Geoff Horsefield has been told that he is suffering from Cancer. We wish the big guy all the best although we now know we won't see him wearing the Walsall shirt. If he fights the disease with the same passion and energy he showed on the football field I am sure the right result will come.

The news was broken by todays Mirror

From the Daily Mirror:

'Geoff Horsfield last night revealed he has been forced to retire after being diagnosed with testicular cancer.

The former Fulham, Birmingham and West Brom striker was given the devastating news after discovering a lump in his left testicle and will have surgery next week.

Horsfield, 34, had hoped to earn a contract with Walsall after being released by Sheffield United in the summer, but is now determined to win the biggest battle of his life.'

I am sure all football fans join us is wishing you and your family all the best.
