Walsall reject trialists

Walsall's reserves won away at Mansfield yesterday 3-2 but more interest surrounded the appearence of former Man Utd Youngster Ashley Westwood who was recently released by Stevenage, however it appears that our interest has already cooled.

Mullen said: "Ashley has been here for a week but I spoke to him to explain he was very similar to what we have got,so we won`t be taking it any further.

"He was with us for a week and that was before the transfer deadline, so I was just covering myself in case we lost someone."

This makes me extra glad that we kept hold of Anthony the thought of Roberts, Smith and Westwood at the back doesn't fill me with confidence.

However,JM hasn`t ruled out a dip into the market when the loan window reopens.

He said: "It is an option which is open to me. If everyone stays fit with what we have got, we will be okay but it is there to use if I need to."

Rumours have also been doing the rounds reference Kevin Oconor a midfielder released from Wolves following injury. However whilst admitting Walsall had watched Kevin play a reserve fixture against Coventry and 'keeping tabs on' the youngster amoungst others JM saysthere is no move likely.....also things have gone very quiet on the Gary Breen front.
