Merse quits playing

If evidence was ever needed that all is not well in the world of Paul Merson here it is.

Having only recently joined Conference side Tamworth after been sacked by the Saddlers, Merse has now announced his retiremnt. This must come as a disappointment to those at the Lamb, especially those additional 400 fans that turned up to see him make his debut.

In recent times Merse has said he turned down more lucurative deals to join the Lambs, and said his biggest mistake at Walsall was he didn't play himself enough. So why the sudden u turn. Perhaps we will never know.

It has long been said Merse needed football more than football needed Merse, for Pauls sake I hope he isn't about to enter another of the dark phases in his life.
