'If It's Football, It's Vital'

John Schofield joins Saddlers

Former Lincoln manager John Schofield has joined the Saddlers a s first team coach. As well as working with the first team he will also be helping with the development of Walsall's crop of promising youngsters.

John has a Uefa A license and is working towards his pro license, having previously been manager at Lincoln, where his teams were known for playing attractive football. He had previously work with the youth set up at Lincoln with players as young as 9 right up to the under 18/reserves before moving onto manager.

This appears to be a sound appointment by the club and gives the staff an experienced head with more up to date league knowledge. It is also a brave appointment by Mullen as some managers have refused to appoint number two's who are capable of stepping up into the main job. So has JB already got a plan B for next season if things don't work out!!!

Good luck to John. He did a fantastic job at Lincoln bringing through the youngsters and in his coaching capacity. Just found wanting when it came to management. You have got yourself a real good coach.

good luck john, although the comment about being able to step up to the top job is out of line, i think Schoey himself has now realised he is more cut out for being a coach - and a damn good one at that!
