Walsall go Non League !!!

Walsall go Non League !!!

It is not new and Walsall have uncovered some real gems from non league football in the past Richard OKelly and David Kelly both readily spring to mind. However when most Saddlers fans feel that it is experience we require the news that manager Jimmy Mullen is looking to non league football has once again upset the masses.

The arguement is been put that it hasn't worked for Gillingham last season and we are in danger of following there example.....relegation! Others put Peterboroughs starlets forward as a positive example of the players you could unearth even another Freddie Eastwood perhaps, the main difference is these players cost a fee 100k or 150k and Walsall just don't spend money on fees, the days where players like Zat Knight were picked up from Rushall Olympic for a set of tracksuits have long gone. Wages are also a stumbling block since many non league players have a job as well paid as many a league one or two footballer starting out so the move in it's self is a gamble for any young non league player.

So I think that it right to look but we can't depend upon these players a balanced approach is required.
